Unconscious bias is an insidious threat to your career if you are an employee, and a threat to your business if you are an employer.

We all have unconscious biases, we may not be aware of them and we can’t avoid them but learning how to identify them and develop strategies to challenge them can help us address them.

This course is designed to help you understand and identify unconscious biases and give you strategies for managing them so that you can make more rational and fair decisions.

To understand the nature and cause of discrimination, you are recommended to first complete our course, ‘Identifying discrimination in your workforce‘.

The aim of the course

This course is designed to help you understand and identify unconscious biases and give you strategies for managing them so that you can make more rational and fair decisions.

Who is it for?

This course follows on from our ‘Identifying Discrimination in your Workforce‘ course and is suited for learners who have either already completed that course, or who have some existing management and leadership experience.

Course duration and format

This course can be completed in around 90 minutes. However, please note that to get the most from this course will require additional time to complete the checklists and to reflect on your own practice, so it is divided into sections so that you can complete it in a number of sessions. We advise you to complete each section at one sitting to maximise your learning, but allowing time between study sessions may enhance your learning by allowing additional time for reflection on both your learning and your current practices.

At the end, there is an online test, successful completion of which will enable you to get a certificate to provide evidence of your learning. You should be able to demonstrate what you learnt going forward in changes to your behaviours.
